This week the Classic Wallabies welcomed Justin Harrison to the team as their new General Manager, replacing Stephen Hoiles who was appointed to the Australian Men’s Sevens program as a Coaching Consultant.
Harrison will report to the Australian Rugby Foundation as well as the Classic Wallabies Board and be responsible for organising community initiatives across the country as well as being the main point of contact for past players.
Harrison brings a wealth of experience in both Rugby and business. Wallaby #770 played 34 Tests for Australia following his 2001 debut against the British and Irish Lions. Following his retirement in 2010, Harrison moved to France with his family where he became Director of Rugby at Narbonne until 2016.
Succeeding this role Harrison became Partner at HuBe Group where he developed business opportunities, managed client relationships and provided strategic consultancy in Global Payment Solutions and Risk Management.
Having just recently moved back to Australia, Harrison said he was now looking forward to re-joining the Rugby family.
‘’I’m thrilled to be working with the Australian Rugby community as well as past Australian representative players to build our program and continue the outstanding work done by Stephen Hoiles.
‘’The Classic Wallabies are a powerful community who are dedicated to helping everyone from the grassroots through to the professional level, as we all have the same golden thread running through us,’’ said Harrison.
Classic Wallabies President Simon Poidevin recognised Hoiles’ contribution to the committee and welcomed Harrison into the fold.
“Hoilesy has done a fantastic job cementing the Classic Wallabies brand within the Australian Rugby landscape through matches, events and coaching clinics, particularly in regional areas.
“Justin’s appointment will allow the Classic Wallabies to build on the foundations laid in 2018 and evolve into a self-sustaining entity to grow, develop and support the sport of Rugby in Australia.”
