57/58 Wallabies celebrate 60 year reunion
The 1957/58 Fourth Wallabies reunited on Sunday June 24th to celebrate an amazing 60th anniversary of their tour of Britain, Ireland & France.
The reunion was held at the home of flanker David Emanuel (9 caps) with Arthur Summons (10 caps), Jim Lenehan (24 caps), Ken Donald (9 caps), Kevin Ryan (5 caps), Jim Brown (9 caps), Saxon White (7 caps), Jack Potts (5 caps), Ron Harvey (2 caps), Tony Fox (1 cap) and Jim Phipps (11 caps) all in attendance on the day.
Other surviving members of the 30 man squad Des Connor, Rod Phelps, Stuart Scotts, Mac Hughes, John Thornett and Ken Yanz all sent their apologies.
The 57/58 Wallabies were joined Classic Wallabies and Rugby AU representatives Adam Freier and Matthew Alvarez on the day. The event was a great opportunity to have a chat with these 11 gentlemen – all in their 80’s – and capture these conversations for historic record.
Keep an eye out on rugby.com.au over the coming weeks for interviews with a number of these players, which we’ll also share.
